Origin

(The Beginning) Before 812 Thrift, I thrifted around the Evansville area with a friend, eventually accumulating more pieces than we could keep. Inspired by the excess, we launched an Instagram shop initially named "OfAndZTresell," which was soon rebranded to 812 Thrift in November 2019. During COVID, the business faced challenges: thrifting became difficult, my friend moved to Vincennes and joined the National Guard, leaving me to find a way to keep it alive.

(The Vision) In the early days, 812 Thrift was primarily known only to the close-knit circle of friends and acquaintances of Owen and Zachary, which made expanding the brand incredibly challenging. This made growth difficult, as reaching a broader audience seemed like an insurmountable task. Building awareness required a tremendous amount of effort, as every move had to be strategic and deliberate. The brand’s presence needed to be established not just within the immediate network but across a much larger community, one that could connect with 812 Thrift’s unique offerings and vision. It was a slow, steady process—creating content, networking, and finding ways to get noticed. But despite these challenges, the drive to grow and scale the brand was unwavering. Every step taken was a learning experience, and with time, the efforts began to pay off.

(The Brain) Then something clicked—Zachary realized 812 Thrift had the potential to be so much more than a small operation known only to friends. He began to see the importance of scaling it to its fullest by building a strong, recognizable brand and reaching beyond their immediate network. It wasn’t just about selling clothes; it was about creating a community, curating a unique experience, and establishing a business that could resonate with a larger audience. This mindset shift marked the turning point for 812, pushing Zachary to take it seriously and think strategically about its growth and long-term success.

(The Release) That same month, the Pretty Girls hoodie dropped, marking a pivotal moment for 812 Thrift that would forever change the trajectory of the brand. The release, which quickly gained traction, resonated deeply with customers, sparking a wave of excitement and creating a buzz that spread far beyond the local community. It was more than just a product launch—it was a statement, showcasing 812 Thrift's ability to blend style, culture, and authenticity in a way that captured the attention of a much broader audience. The success of the hoodie set the tone for what was to come, igniting a fire within the brand and propelling it forward into new territory. Since that moment, 812 has never looked back. Every step forward has been marked by growth, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to its vision. The brand continues to evolve, pushing boundaries and expanding its reach, all while maintaining the core values that made it special in the first place.

(The Inexorable) Zachary has a clear and ambitious vision for 812 Thrift, rooted in its origins but focused on the endless possibilities that lie ahead. He sees the brand as more than just a business; it’s a platform to connect with people, inspire creativity, and build a community that values individuality and sustainability. With a commitment to innovation, he is determined to explore new opportunities for growth, whether through expanding product offerings, collaborating with like-minded organizations, or creating unique experiences for customers. Zachary’s dedication and forward-thinking approach position 812 Thrift to become a brand that not only evolves with the times but also sets new standards in the industry.
